Beijing Municipal Water Group is a wholly-owned state-owned company affiliated to the Beijing Municipal Government. The predecessor of the group was founded in April 1908, the capital Water Co., LTD. On August 26, 1999, Beijing Water Group Co., Ltd. was officially established with the approval of Beijing Municipal Government.
Beijing Municipal Water Supply Group is responsible for the supply of tap water in the central city of Beijing (urban area), as well as in Mentougou, Yanqing, Miyun, Huairou, Fangshan, Daxing, Tongzhou and other suburban new towns. It is one of the largest and most influential urban water supply enterprises in China in terms of water supply capacity, tap water quality, asset scale, technology and equipment.
Beijing Water Group now has 39 secondary subsidiaries and branches, more than 8400 employees, enterprise assets of more than 24 billion yuan. At present, the group owns 13 urban water plants, 1 water storage plant and 14 suburban new city water plants, with a total daily water supply capacity of 4.5 million cubic meters. The total length of the pipeline network is over 12,000 kilometers, and the water supply service area is over 1,100 square kilometers, supplying water to more than 4.6 million households. The urban area has a daily water supply capacity of 3.7 million cubic meters, a pipe network of more than 9,000 kilometers in length, and a water supply service area of over 730 square kilometers for more than 3.6 million households. The urban water supply scope extends to the west of Tongzhou in the east, Xihongmen, Jiugong and Fengtai East Highland in Daxing District in the south, Lugu in Shijingshan District in the west, and Tiantongyuan in the north. An integrated pattern of urban and rural water supply has been initially formed, with Beijing's urban area as the main water supply and suburban new towns covered.
